GA200C Fatman

Key Features

The GA200C is the result of extensive improvements to the GA 200 series of light agricultural aircraft. Features contributing to the popularity of the GA200C include:
  • More Power
The GA 200C is fitted with the 300 Horse Power Lycoming IO 540 K series engine and a Hartzell 2 bladed constant speed propeller giving outstanding take off, climb and cruise performance

  • Larger hopper
The GA200C is fitted with a 1050 litre (277 US gallon) capacity hopper increasing the payload per flight by 40 to 50%. The sidewalls and the lower areas of the hopper have been specially reinforced so that they will be sufficiently durable to withstand vigorous cleaning techniques used to remove some solids deposits.

  • Widebody fuselage
The wide fuselage allows for the accommodation of a permanent seat for a loader driver or maintenance engineer and allows aerial viewing by the farmer.

  • Efficient all metal wings
The GA 200 employs a very efficient wing capable of carrying heavy loads out of hot and high strips. The traditional ‘strutt braced’ design concept was maintained in the GA200C as it provides the minimum possible structural wing weight. This gives a saving of 45 kg (100lbs) over a cantilever spar design and allowing a correspondingly greater maximum payload for a given horsepower.

  • Efficient dispersal equipment
The development of the Gippsland Aeronautics multi-role door, which is suitable for operation with both solids and liquids, eliminates the time consuming job of changing old fashioned hopper outlets when changing from solids to liquids and vice versa.

The dump mechanism can be reset closed in flight allowing for a partial dump if required. The multi-role door can also be used for fire bombing and stream laying of foam type fire retardants.

During higher flow spreading operations the door moves progressively rearwards preventing ‘blanket propeller slipstream.

  • Superior engine cooling
Designed for hot Australian conditions, three cooling air outlets are used, one on each fuselage side and one underneath. These outlets, together with the unique internal airflow control baffles mean cylinder head temperatures are kept well below maximum allowable limits, even on 40°C plus days.

  • Dual Control Trainer Option
A dual control trainer version is available. A working aircraft that can earn it’s keep in either a training or an operational role.

  • Crashworthiness
Field experience has shown that the crashworthy features built into the GA 200 series aircraft, such as wing mounted fuel tanks, work exceedingly well.

  • Resale Value
The GA 200 series aircraft have been proven to maintain their value even in the current tough second hand market.

  • Earning ability
The low purchase price, low operating costs and simple low maintenance design of the GA 200C enable operators to turn a handsome profit even on the smallest job.
