Gippsland Aeronautics signs MOU for Indian Representation

For Release: Thursday 22nd March 2007
Venue: MOU signing at Victorian Government Chalet, 11.00am
Manufacturer: Gippsland Aeronautics / Mahindra Plexion
Products: GA8 Airvan and GA200C

Gippsland Aeronautics Pty Ltd, a Victorian based aircraft manufacturer, is very pleased to announce today the signing of an MOU with Mahindra Plexion of India, as an initial step that will see Mahindra Plexion representing the company’s aircraft for distribution, sales and marketing and product support within India.

Travelling from India to the Australian International Airshow this week for the signing is the CEO of Mahindra Plexion, Dr M. K. Padmanabhan and the Project Manager of the Aerospace Group, Dr Karthik Krishnamurphy.

Last month, as a participant of the Victorian Government Aero India trade mission to Bangalore, Gippsland Aeronautics flew a GA8 Airvan demonstrator aircraft to attend the air show and explore the potential of the market sector.

“We had researched the market over an eighteen month period and felt that the opportunities for sales of our aircraft on the Indian sub continent are huge, especially taking into account the rapid economic growth in India, the deregulation and active encouragement of general aviation. At Aero India we had very strong customer enquiry from people from many walks of life who could see the potential uses the GA8 Airvan could offer to their businesses”, said the Chairman for Gippsland Aeronautics, Mr Gary Wight.

We look forward to working with Mahindra Plexion to expand general aviation within India and feel we have made the right choice for a long-term partnership.

Gippsland Aeronautics applied to Indian DGCA in December 2006 for the GA8 Airvan Type Certificate acceptance. Certified to FAR 23 Amendment 54/55, with no exemptions and meeting all the latest safety standards, the GA8 Airvan has achieved all the major certifications including FAA and European EASA Type Certificates and has now entered 20 countries globally.

The GA8 Airvan is an all-metal, high wing, 8 seat utility aircraft that was conceived as a replacement for the worlds aging fleet of light utility aircraft. The GA8 Airvan is exceptionally suited to tourist, freight, air taxi, medivac, homeland security/border patrol and skydiving operations because of its payload and genuine eight adult seat capacity.
